In that case, Plaintiff claimed the Defendant orthopedic surgeon was negligent in a knee replacement surgery that required a reoperation one year after the initial procedure. At trial, Plaintiff asked the jury for more than $2 million in economic and noneconomic damages. Following an eight-day trial in which experts for both sides testified on the standard of care, causation and damages, the jury returned a unanimous verdict in favor of the orthopedic surgeon—concluding he met the standard of care in his care and treatment of Plaintiff.
